A critical gap in Africa’s capital markets
Only 1% of global venture capital currently flows to Africa. This gap in early-stage funding for African startups—the “missing middle”—disproportionately impacts early-stage companies that are too big for microfinance and too small for institutional investors.

2023
Momentum: Africa Expansion and Renew Venture Lab
Renew Capital expands its reach from a few East African countries to establish a presence in 13 nations, extending from Ghana in the West to Zambia in the South. The launch of the Renew Venture Lab accelerator also marks a pivotal moment, facilitating a new process to ready a broader investment pipeline, and resulting in the close of a wave of new tech and tech-enabled investments.
